KYLE ‘BLACK’ RECHLICZ

NCHS Class of 1998

As a panther, Kyle ‘Black’ Rechlicz was an academic and athletic standout. Not only was she a varsity basketball player, but she was also a strong track and field athlete participating in shot put and discus.

In the midst of all her athletic accomplishments, she understood the value of the intense rigor of North Central, balancing her activities well while earning the privilege of being included in the National Honor Society. While at NC she also started the Fellowship of Christian Athletes program.

Her favorite memories at NC include winning sectionals freshman year and weight training classes where she said, “I may or may not have snuck out of weight training class to grab a warm Krispy Kreme donut or two.”

Getting time on the court to get some shots up was a fond memory. Her mentor Mr. Bruce Farley, a physics teacher, coach, and father figure to Kyle, is a core memory of her time at NC. She shares, “I had really good people around me. Paul Loggan and Alan Vickery helped me on the court and in life. We had a great facility and a competitive conference where I felt challenged.”

After Graduation

After her time at NC, Kyle headed to the University of Wisconsin to play basketball under Coach Jane Albright. After graduation, she’s had several coaching opportunities from the University of Dayton to Cleveland State. Kyle has now entered her 11th season as head coach at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she lives with her daughter.

Kyle will be back in town this month as part of the 2023 Women’s Silver Anniversary Team that will be honored at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame’s Awards Banquet on Saturday, April 29, 2023.

A midday reception, free and open to the public, will be held at the Hall of Fame museum in New Castle. The evening banquet will take place at the Primo Banquet Hall on the south side of Indianapolis.

Banquet reservations will be available through the hall’s website at www.hoopshall.com  or by calling (765) 529-1891. For more information, you may also email [email protected].
