From recently celebrating his 30-year class reunion to running his own business (Juke Joint Entertainment) and touring internationally as a sought-after artist, Ramon Jackson is a busy man with lots of talent to share. His music spans R&B, Pop, Blues, and Alternative, and since starting his career in 2015, he has released four albums. Q&A
What are you up to now?
I am a published and internationally touring singer/songwriter. Over the last 8 years, I’ve performed several times in London (Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Box Park Croydon, Jago, POW Brixton) and in Paris at the New Year’s Eve celebration at the Pullman Hotel Eiffel Tower (2018, 2019). I also performed as the artist in residence at the Legendary Ashford and Simpson’s Sugar Bar in NYC in 2019 and 2023
How did North Central impact and shape who you are today?
NC shaped me for a world full of diversity. I’ve always wanted to travel and connect with other cultures and that desire came from learning about how big the world really is while being at North Central.
WHAT IS your favorite memory from North Central?
My favorite memory was definitely hanging out in the student center before class and the rich connections I made with other students who became my lifelong friends. Whether it was Michelle Turley from freshman Geometry class, DD Waldron from Etymology, or Henry Young from band, we all still keep in touch. The extracurricular activities like Junior Spec, the fashion show, the cabaret, and the mixers after home games helped to shape my social skills as an adult. Classes like Business Law helped me prepare for adulthood as an entrepreneur. It was really the overall experience at NC that added educational value more than just from the classroom.
