When the 1970 Reunion Planning Committee began meeting about our fifty year milestone, we established two goals: (1) Plan a fabulous weekend celebration reuniting classmates, and (2) Give back to the high school that gave us so much. As we started the discussion to identify a class reunion gift, we agreed that it needs to:
- Impact the needs of North Central, the students, the staff, and the community;
- Be tangible and enduring;
- Allow each of us to contribute an amount within our own comfort zone; and
- Set an example for the classes that follow us.
North Central is developing plans for the first major renovation in decades. Representative met with the superintendent, the principal, and school district leaders on several occasions to discuss how the Class of 1970 can contribute to the future of NCHS. The administration requested that we help with the renovation and upgrade to our student center, specifically with the addition of a “Student Center Café”. It would be a community social hub managed and staffed by students, something many public schools in and around Indianapolis have successfully created.
Please join your classmates in contributing to this class gift. Gifts can also be made in honor or memory of someone, such as an unforgettable teacher or a treasured classmate.
