When the North Central High School Class of 1960 first walked through the doors of NCHS, a 27-year-old educator named Dr. H. Dean Evans was just beginning what would become an extraordinary career in education and public service. As students, we had the distinct privilege of interacting with Dr. Evans during his formative years as an educator.
Beyond his impressive professional achievements, Dr. Evans was the absolute picture of decency—the exact kind of mentor every parent hopes will influence, guide, and inspire their children through their high school years. He exemplified integrity, kindness, and unwavering commitment to the community.
Following his passing in 2004, the Class of 1960 established the Dr. H. Dean Evans Scholarship to ensure his spirit lives on at North Central. Each year, this scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who demonstrates the same hallmarks that defined Dr. Evans: character, integrity, and a dedication to serving others.
Our Goal: Elevating the Endowment to $100,000
Through the generosity of our classmates and sound investment management, the Dr. H. Dean Evans Scholarship Endowment is currently valued at $70,000, distributing an annual award of $3,000 to an outstanding North Central graduate.
As we look toward our upcoming reunion efforts, the Class of 1960 has set an ambitious new goal: raise the endowment principal to $100,000.
Why $100,000?

Increase the Annual Award: Reaching $100,000 will allow the fund to permanently award a $5,000 annual scholarship.

Tax-deductible donations can be made using the form below or by mailing a check, Required Manual Distribution, or Donor Advised Fund (EIN 31-1146508) payable to the Washington Township Schools Foundation (with 1986 denoted) to WTS Foundation, 8550 Woodfield Crossing Blvd., Indianapolis, IN 46240.

Academic Excellence: Ranked in the top 10% of the class with a 4.57 weighted GPA, AP Scholar with Distinction, and 2nd place State winner (National Qualifier) in National History Day.

Leadership & Service: Eagle Scout and two-time Senior Patrol Leader for BSA Troop 1033, leading over 24 community service projects and directing a statewide Camporee for 245 attendees.

Extracurricular Impact: Science Olympiad Team Captain (1st place Regional finish), Band Section Leader, active National Honor Society member, and cross country/track teammate who mentors underclassmen.
