Great North 2026 and the Inaugural Pantherpalooza

The Great North Run and Pantherpalooza brought together runners, families, alumni, students, and neighbors for a day filled with Panther pride and community connection. Thanks to the incredible support of our participants and partners, this year’s event raised $54,000, directly advancing our mission to support the achievements of world‑class public education by connecting private funding to innovative programs that benefit our schools and community.

Henry Koves

Over 1,500 participants registered for the Great North Run this year, with Spring Mill Elementary leading the way as the school with the highest number of registrants. Go Bulldogs!

North Central alumni showed up in a big way, with over 140 registering for the race. Many stopped by the WTSF Alumni Tent to reconnect with old friends, celebrate their shared roots, and cheer on today’s students.

Congratulations to Westlane student, Henry Koves, who captured first place overall in the 5K. Awards were also presented to first and second place finishers in each age category. Congratulations to all of our winners and finishers for taking on the challenge!

A Day of Pride, Purpose, and Partnership

WTSF Alumni Tent

An event of this scale simply wouldn’t happen without tremendous volunteer support. 168 volunteers, including 58 students, generously gave their time to help with setup, operations, and cleanup.

Special thanks to The Sanctuary for bringing the fun to our Fun Run, and to the many neighbors along the route who came out to cheer on our runners. Your enthusiasm turned the race into a true community experience.

A big shoutout to our volunteer race photographer, Antonio Chapital, for capturing the day so beautifully. Check out his incredible photos in the slideshow below!

We are also incredibly grateful to our 28 sponsors, whose generosity and advocacy continue to make the Great North Run a success year after year.

JEL Cosmetology Braid Bar

Families stayed long after the finish line to enjoy the games, giveaways, and community connections at the booths of our 37 Pantherpalooza exhibitors from across Washington Township.

Our students shined in remarkable ways throughout the day. JEL Cadets, who are training to become EMTs, stood ready along the course to assist runners at a moment’s notice.

Meanwhile, JEL Cosmetology students put smiles on faces and pawprints on cheeks at the Braid Bar, featuring temporary tattoos and hair color as well as their signature braided looks.

When a Community Runs Together, Everyone Wins

The Great North Run and Pantherpalooza once again proved what’s possible when a community comes together for a shared purpose. Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, sponsored, and cheered. Your support helps strengthen our schools and enrich opportunities for all our students. We can’t wait to do it again next year!
