Q&A

What are you up to now?

I live in Indianapolis with my family. After practicing law for 21 years, I was appointed as a federal magistrate judge serving the people of the Southern District of Indiana. It is a wonderful job where I get to help people find justice in their disputes and resolve them in an amicable way. On occasion, I run into high school classmates who are serving as lawyers and appearing before me, which is always fun to see.

How did North Central impact and shape who you are today?

North Central gave me opportunities to build my personal and academic confidence. Programs like Learning Unlimited were uniquely designed to offer students learning opportunities outside of the traditional classroom, which I enjoyed. The camaraderie and diversity of students was a positive influence on me and helped me understand the bigger world around me.

WHAT IS your favorite memory from North Central?

I was a proud participant in the Learning Unlimited program while attending North Central High School. In the “LU” program, students were provided numerous opportunities to build relationships and memories with fellow students, teachers, and members of the community. I was paired up one year with a veteran from World War II and the experience was truly humbling. To learn about his story and to pass it along to others as part of a semester-long project was a very unique opportunity. I was also the N.C. Panther my senior year. Just prior to tryouts, I had broken my foot, but was still able to compete. The cheer team sensed my enthusiasm and spirit and split the mascot role into two. I served during the basketball season where the team advanced to State Regionals at Hinkle Fieldhouse. That was an awesome semester for me.
