Jared Thompson

NCHS Class of 2000

Washington Township takes immense pride in inducting Jared Thompson into the Hall of Fame, recognizing his exceptional dedication to music, the arts, and education.

From an early age, Jared’s passion for music was undeniable—starting piano at just five years old and later exploring the saxophone by ten. His journey began with Renaissance Studios through NC at age eight, and by high school, he was composing his own jazz pieces and performing at the highest levels.

During his time at North Central, Jared was deeply involved in Jazz Band, Counterpoints Band, National Honor Society, and Junior Spectacular, where he collaborated with an incredibly talented group of peers. He recalls the immense talent at NC and the invaluable mentorship from teachers like Mrs. Joyce Click and Mr. William Gulde, who pushed him to meet his potential.
Their investment in his growth—as a student, musician and as an individual—has left a lasting impact that he carries with him to this day.

Jared has since built a remarkable career as a performing artist, arts advocate, composer, and educator, using music as a tool for communication and social connection. His work extends beyond performance—he is a community consultant for the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, contributes to jazz foundations, and leads initiatives to make the arts more accessible to young audiences. His dedication to music education and advocacy has taken him across the country, from Florida residencies to national museum and film festival collaborations.

As he joins the North Central High School Alumni Hall of Fame, Jared reflects on the honor as a testament to his consistency, integrity, and high standards in his craft. Notably, he and his twin brother Joshua Thompson are the first set of male twins to receive this recognition—a milestone that underscores their impact and influence on the arts and the community.

Congratulations to Jared Thompson on this well-deserved honor. His journey from NC’s jazz band to a nationally recognized musician and advocate demonstrates the excellence, passion, and commitment that North Central fosters in its students.
