Q&A

WHICH HBCU DID YOU ATTEND and how did it shape your career path?
I attended Prairie View A&M Univerisity from 1994 – 1999. Attending an HBCU significantly shaped my career path by providing a unique educational experience that fostered a strong sense of cultural identity, community, and leadership. Prairie A&M University offered a platform to understand and appreciate my heritage. The HBCU community provided a supportive atmosphere that encouraged academic and personal growth. I chose to attend an HBCU that had the top ranked Engineering School because that was my major and career choice. I am now Owner of an Engineering, and IT Project Management Consulting Firm; and Co-Owner/Founder of GO3 Vodka.
How did North Central prepare you for the HBCU experience?
North Central High School prepared me for the HBCU experience by emphasizing leadership, community, and academic excellence. Even though my HBCU is over 1,000 miles away from Indianapolis there were several NC Alums that attended Prairie View A&M University with me. Also, I’ve formed numerous NCHS Panther connections after college graduation while living in Texas.
What is your favorite NCHS memory?
Friday night football games, Having fun with friends, Graduation.
What is your favorite HBCU Tradition?
Homecoming is my favorite HBCU tradition. Homecoming at Prairie View A&M University is a celebration of the university’s legacy and the spirit of its community. It is a time for alumni to return, for new students to be welcomed, and for the university to give back to its community. The event includes a football game, pep rallies, and tailgating events, fostering a sense of school pride and camaraderie. Homecoming is not just a tradition; it is a celebration of the university’s legacy and the legends that make Prairie View A&M University great.
What advice would you give current North Central students considering an HBCU?
The advice that I would give to current NC Students considering attending an HBCU would be to Attend HBCU College Tours to connect with current students. Research HBCUs to find the best match based on your interests and academic programs.
