How has Washington Township played a role in your life?
Washington Township gave me such a gift as I headed to college. All the content that my teachers poured into me, set me up for a successful college experience.
When it came time to student teach, I only listed WT on my list of places I wanted to teach because I wanted to be part of a place that gave me so much.
Now, as an alum, parent/aunt, teacher, and resident of WT, I am proud to call WT home. I believe so strongly in what we do for our students here in WT and the opportunities we give them.
What is different in WTS today? And what has stayed the same?
I’ve been fortunate to teach in WT for 25 years. I’ve been here through several referendums, MANY renovations and new construction, and new and returning staff members.
One of the things that remains constant in WT is the connectedness of the community. Living and working in WT has allowed me to stay in contact with so many of my former students and to keep up with them as they grow and learn.
Across the district, our commitment to students has never been stronger! I was able to tour parts of NC recently and every Panther should be proud to attend school there; it is a world class facility!
How has the Washington Township Schools Foundation impacted your experience working in the district?
The Washington Township Schools Foundation has made so many opportunities possible for so many of my students during my 25 years here. I’ve been able to supply my students with current technology and coding materials, as well as books, supplies, tools, and so much more!
In addition to supplying materials for my students, I have also been able to work with Kindergarten families and help them learn about what their students are doing and how they can work with them at home. When I talk about the Foundation with colleagues outside of WT, they are in disbelief and always want to know more about what the Foundation helps us do.
