How has Washington Township played a role in your life?
Washington Township represents “home” for me. I was born and raised within this community and returned to work for the district after attending 4 years of college and 1 year of graduate school.
I feel honored to have the opportunity to pour into a community that poured so much into me. My parents valued education for their children and intentionally chose this district to raise their children because of the reputation of the school system. Washington Township gave me my start and then accepted me back as an adult. It’s truly full circle.
What is different in WTS today? And what has stayed the same?
It’s so much more diverse than it was when I was a child. There is such beauty in the diversity, and I think we are better because of it.
And what has stayed the same? This community still shows up for each other. I witnessed that as a student and I get to see that community support in my work and role in the district.
How has the Washington Township Schools Foundation impacted your experience working in the district?
The foundation has been a significant part of my work over the past 5 years. During the pandemic, I began working closely with the Executive Director to create systems and pathways for organizations to join us in supporting students and families with financial needs and access to resources.
We created streamlined ways for parents to access those resources. That’s been an amazing partnership that just keeps growing every year!
