Panthers Return Home | Shannon Sedgwick
For Panther alumni who once roamed the hallways as students, the decision to return to Washington Township Schools as staff members is a full-circle moment in their personal and professional journeys.
Check out these Panthers who have returned home to Washington Township to make an impact in the very community that shaped their own academic and personal development.

How has Washington Township played a role in your life?
WTS set me up for success, especially when heading into college and then the workforce. In undergrad, I felt like I was more prepared than my peers to craft scholarly papers, do research, and have meaningful academic discussions.
My education through WTS gave me a sense of professionalism that has helped me in both of the careers I’ve pursued.
What is different in WTS today? And what has stayed the same?
Surprisingly, I see staff members who I interacted with as a student who are still serving the township (whether still employed or volunteering post-retirement). I see more direction and connectedness among the schools, students, and staff.
I loved each of my school communities but never felt connected to the other elementary or middle schools growing up. With more unified messaging and working together to grow panthers, we are able to share a vision for all of our students.
How has the Washington Township Schools Foundation impacted your experience working in the district?
In my first year working for the district, I didn’t interact with the Foundation much but was appreciative of the support knowing I could reach out if I needed something. I have great dreams for Foundation grants I want to write in the upcoming years to support our students’ unique learning paths.
